About Ferme Vaillancourt

Located on Des Perron Avenue in Laval, the Vaillancourt family farm is going strong after more than 185 years. Pierre Vaillancourt originally acquired the land where the farm still stands today on September 13, 1823. Brothers Maurice and Lucien, along with their spouses Agathe and Alice, took over the reins in the 1950s, vowing to keep the time-honoured family traditions alive and incorporating a fruit and vegetable stand into the operation. In the decades since, they have also introduced ready-to-plant flowers and greenhouse-grown vegetables to their line of products.

In the 1990s, they passed the business down to their sons, Yves and Richard, the sixth generation of Vaillancourts to run the farm. Yves and Richard added another feather to the family’s cap in 2003 when they put their horticultural and artistic expertise to work to explore mosaiculture – the art of creating giant plant “sculptures” – as part of the International Mosaiculture of Montreal festival. Three years later, Yves and his team earned praise for their work on the international stage, with a first-place win at the Mosaiculture International Shanghai – an achievement that was repeated in Hamamatsu, Japan, in 2009. Their success has helped make a name for the Vaillancourt farm in such prominent cities as Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New York and Nice.
